Quinoa calorie count for dieters

Quinoa is a permitted food in many modern weight loss diets and yet it is not very low on calories as you would think. For every 50 grams serving of quinoa there are about 175 calories. The main reason quinoa is good as part of a calorie controlled diet is that it is very filling. Another reason is that quinoa goes well with other healthy foods. You wouldn’t eat quinoa with a burger would you?
You can combine your serving of quinoa with a pile of salad vegetables and still have a main meal for less than 300 calories. Quinoa is very high in protein content so you do not have to eat meat with it. A salad like this is a complete and substantial meal.
You could have this salad for lunch plus another quinoa based stir fry for dinner and only have consumed 600 calories. With a few well chosen snacks you can easily keep your daily calorie count to 1000.
The other quinoa health benefit for dieters is that quinoa is a low fat food. So for most weight loss diets quinoa fits in very well.

I read similar article also named calorie count for dieters | Quinoa Health Tips, and it was completely different. Personally, I agree with you more, because this article makes a little bit more sense for me

    Hi Ken

I lost 14kgs in 5 months and have kept it off in the past 3 months through calorie counting. But whenever I mention it to others they suggest that calorie counting is a touch obsessive.

I have come to the conclusion that in order to serously lose weight and then keep it off you do have to be obsessive. I have developed my own principles behind losing weight – no charge, free, and not trying to sell you anything, they are on my website http://diet.mondrop.com – please take a look and let me know your views.

The main principle after calorie counting I had was not to eat breakfast before 9.30am. This meant I could easily get through to a late lunch and then a nice dinner. Even had plenty of opportunities for little freebies, such as wine or beer or a small pudding occasionally.

    Best wishes
