Quinoa as part of a healthy unprocessed diet

Having been using quinoa for a couple of years it has now become a staple food in my diet. I eat it most days either in a salad or stir fry. It is sometimes the main focus of the meal and other times simply one ingredient of many.

I have a much healthier body partly because of using quinoa in my diet. Regular readers will know that I have lost 5 stones in 2008 as part of changing my eating habits. The biggest benefit is with the digestive system. I no longer live with that bloated feeling in my stomach and all the associated digestive problems.

I know people who have found that quinoa helps solve similar health problems such as IBS and constipation. This is part of a complete change in diet focus away from processed foods. I now rarely eat anything processed and even the herbs and flavourings I use are fresh from my tiny garden. I also eat hardly any bread or white rice. My carbs come from fruit and vegetables in the main plus of course quinoa

If I have to eat on the run and am forced to eat fast food I suffer immediatly. So I have pretty much decided to forget fast food and go hungry until I can get some fresh fruit and veg inside me. I have been asked if I am vegetarian which I am not but I do recognise that my intake of meat has reduced substantially because of the change to raw and unprocessed food. I have some ham and eggs with salad and occasionally chicken. I have not eaten red meat this year but just because thats the way things have occured.

Because quinoa is so full of protein I know that my body is not running short of the correct vitamins and nutrients. When you eat quinoa you automatically eat healthy foods with it. I know that a diet of unprocessed food is the way I will eat from now on.
